Printing Your First Label
This guide walks you through printing your first label — from scanning a product to a finished printed label.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Your device is paired with your branch
- Your product catalogue has at least one product with allergens set
- The label roll is loaded in the device
Step 1: Load the Label Roll
Section titled “Step 1: Load the Label Roll”- Open the label compartment at the back of the device
- Insert the label roll with the paper feeding under the roll
- Pull the paper through until it exits the print slot
- Close the compartment
Step 2: Print a Label
Section titled “Step 2: Print a Label”Option A — Scan a Barcode
Section titled “Option A — Scan a Barcode”- On the device, tap Scan on the home screen
- Point the barcode scanner at the product barcode
- When the product is recognised, it opens in the label print screen
Option B — Search Manually
Section titled “Option B — Search Manually”- On the device, tap New Label
- Use the search bar to find the product by name
- Tap the product to open it in the label print screen
Step 3: Confirm and Print
Section titled “Step 3: Confirm and Print”- The label preview shows the product name, allergens, and use-by date
- Check that allergens are correct
- Tap Print
- The label prints in seconds
What Appears on the Label
Section titled “What Appears on the Label”Every label includes:
- Product name
- All allergens (bold, all 14 UK allergens listed if present)
- Use-by date (auto-calculated from the product’s use-by period)
- QR code (for traceability)
- Branch name (for multi-location operations)
- Print timestamp
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Nothing prints | Check the label roll is loaded correctly; restart the device |
| Allergens missing | Check the product has allergens set in the dashboard |
| Use-by date wrong | Verify the product’s use-by period in the dashboard |
| Scanner not working | Clean the scanner lens; ensure the barcode is not damaged |
