Waste Reasons
Waste reasons help categorise food waste so you can track where waste is coming from and reduce it over time.
What Are Waste Reasons?
Section titled “What Are Waste Reasons?”Every time a waste event is recorded, the staff member selects a reason — such as “Overproduction” or “Quality issue”. These reasons are stored in the cloud and appear in the wastage analytics on the home screen.
Default Reasons
Section titled “Default Reasons”Your branch comes with a standard set of waste reasons:
- Overproduction
- Expired
- Damaged
- Quality issue
- Other
How Reasons Are Used
Section titled “How Reasons Are Used”Waste reasons are configured per branch and sync to all paired devices. When a staff member records a waste event on the device, they select a reason from this list.
In the wastage analytics on the home screen, the Wastage by Reason chart breaks down your waste by category — helping you identify the biggest causes (e.g., if most waste is from “Overproduction”, you can reduce batch sizes).
Configuring Reasons
Section titled “Configuring Reasons”The current list of waste reasons is shown on the Settings → Waste Reasons page. To add, remove, or change reasons, contact support — reasons are managed at the system level.
